Featured & Favorite Artists at VFA

This past weekend was an exciting one in New York for art enthusiasts. Art on Paper 2024, was held during Armory Art Week, celebrating  its 10th year at Pier 36, and we were glad to be a part of the celebration. 

 

More than 70 participants, from all over the world, payed homage to paper-based art,..something that we do every day at Vertu Fine Art.

 

Here's a look at some of our favorite artists, working in a variety of media, and who are the best modern and contemporary fine art printmakers:

 

 

Featured at VFA  are beautifully colored screenprints by Philadelphia-based artist Odili Donald Odili; shades of black lithographs by Robert Longo; acrylic and watercolor on paper by Katherine Bernhardt; ink on paper works by digital compressionist art Diid; photography by Bob Gruen and so much more.

 

Our goal has always been to share our passion and to educate art lovers about the process and complexity that goes into producing a Fine Art Print. Artists like Alex Katz create works that look deceptively simple,often using a woodcut and a myriad of colors to create his prints.. Kitchen Interior, by Jonas Wood (who says he was inspired by Alex Kat) is a 112 color screenprint that creates a mood of domestic serenity.

 

The silkscreens of Kenny Scharf, Mel Bochner, Robert Kelly and Roy Lichtenstein are enhanced with collage, paint and other media to produce outstanding Fine Art Prints

.

 

 

Chicago-based artist Carlos Rolon focuses his works on family and community. He uses bright colors and gold in much of his work, a reflection of and tribute to his Puerto Rican heritage.

 

One of the most innovative and historically important works at VFA  is Andy Warhol’s Portrait of the Artists from Ten from Leo Castelli. The work consists of 10 different screenprinted color images of the following artists: Robert Morris, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Larry Poons, James Rosenquist, Frank Stella, Lee Bontecou, Donald Judd, Robert Rauschenberg and Andy Warhol. Warhol created the work in 1967, when the innovative artists depicted in the work had finally been recognized and appreciated by the art world.
