Alexandra Seiler
Alexandra Seiler's colorful paintings confront her daily visual experience. As a city dweller, Seiler exists within an overflowing urban grid. The paintings strip down and reassemble those forms, like the destruction and rebuilding constantly taking place in her environment.
With a background in graphic design, Seiler moves freely between the screen and the hand. Often beginning with a drawing before reworking the piece digitally, there can be many steps before acrylic paint is applied to panel. There is no hierarchy in this process, even the physical painting will often be rotated or moved from the wall to the floor and back. This natural integration of modern and traditional tools channels a flatness humming with energetic colors and rhythmic shapes.
