Alongside the development of this vocabulary, Alexandra began a deeper study of the wilderness and animal architecture. The shapes and forms of animal architecture began to fascinate her given how absent they were in New York City's landscapes.
Today, how humans alter space and how animals alter space is the subject of Alexandra’s fascination. She has deconstructed them through her own lens and language of abstraction. With a background in graphic design, she moves freely between the screen and the hand. Often beginning with a drawing before reworking the piece digitally, there are often many steps before acrylic paint is applied to panel. There is no hierarchy in this process, even the physical paintings will often be rotated or moved from the wall to the floor and back. This natural integration of modern and traditional tools channels a flatness humming with energetic colors and rhythmic shapes.
